Biography

I am a full-time professional landscape photographer based near Redruth in mid-Cornwall. This enables me to visit and lead one-to-one and group photography tours with tuition (including schools and magazine parties) to the most photogenic locations in Cornwall, at the best times of day and year on a regular basis. My aim is to capture strong compositions in quality light, with the so-called golden hours around sunrise and sunset being exploited regularly.

I also enjoy travelling to the most photogenic locations elsewhere in Britain, with recent trips including photography in the Pembrokeshire Coast and North Yorkshire Moors National Parks, as well as West Sussex, the Isle of Wight, the Scottish Lothians, Scottish Borders, Northumberland, Tyneside, Teeside ,Wearside, and the Yorkshire Coast. You can view images captured at these locations in the gallery section of my website, where images from my 2022/23 trips to North Wales, and Royal Aberdeenshire, as well as the Yorkshire Dales, Snowdonia, and the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Parks will also be displayed when available.

I began to take photography seriously 25 years ago whilst studying an evening course on the subject at Cornwall College. My images have since received numerous awards including twice for the best landscape at the Bristol International Salon of Photography and Royal Photographic Society Medals for both landscape and wildlife. They have also featured in local and national exhibitions and are available for purchase at numerous Cornish shops, galleries, and craft fairs.

My work is also regularly published in local and national calendars, newspapers, books, and magazines, where my images are often accompanied by my photography related magazine articles, I also have experience leading photography tours for individuals, photography groups, school parties, and a photographic magazine, writing location guides, product reviews and lecturing/judging at camera clubs.

Since making the switch from film to digital cameras in late 2005, I have been capturing my images with Canon full-frame sensor cameras (currently the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV) with a selection of professional Canon EOS L series lenses and Lee Filters. This enables me to provide high-quality images to the publishing trade or direct to the public as mounted and framed prints. Popular images are also available as greetings cards, coasters, mugs, placemats, mouse mats, glass kitchen boards, worktop savers, and in my Cornish calendar. Canvases and large prints are also available.
